data + privacy
hello, world

I created this site as a way to share my voice. Hello!

So ... you know you're using the internet. (No? Well, you are. Woo!)
Do you know what's going on with your data and privacy when you use the internet, including this site? Do you want answers? While I can't explain everything from first principles, this privacy policy will cover the fundamentals.

I
hello, cyberspace

Websites receive, collect and store any information you provide to them in any way, some being more obvious, some less so.

When you enter information into a website, the site collects it. This information may be personal or sensitive, such as your logins; e-mail addresses; passwords; personally identifiable information like name, email, password, communications; comments, feedback, product reviews, recommendations, and personal profiles; purchase history; payment details like credit card information.

III
idk?

What about stuff behind the scenes that most people don't understand very well? Your computer and devices use the internet to send and receive information. When you reach out to sites, cyberspace can tell whether you're using a computer or a mobile device; detect information about your connection; determine your IP address; measure and collect session information such as page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page.

hello traceyo(.com)

Tl;dr: if you want to be personally unknown to me, I'm not trying to track you.
(a) Let's start with some examples that are pretty obvious:
i. There is no place for you to enter information on the site.

ii. The site includes links, including one for email, that point you away from my site. If you use your email account to send me a message, that seems like your choice.

iii. If you post something public (which you can't do on my site) anyone might see it. So if you use a share button on my site and post it publicly, that also seems like your choice. If you use privacy settings, I'm pretty sure I won't know it was you by virtue of my site.

iv. If you use your browser to follow a link, I'm pretty sure I won't know it's you, particularly if you're using privacy settings.

(b) Now for some stuff that may be less obvious:

i. This Wix.com site has chosen to opt out of collecting Internet protocol (IP) addresses, which are used to connect your computer to the Internet. So that means ... I don't have your IP address.

ii. I'll see data such as how many visitors to my site used a computer or mobile device, but I won't know who used what (unless you do something like email me on a day when one person viewed my site and, well, I'll infer that it was you but it's not like the site made that happen, it's basically because you emailed me and my site is not going to attract a massive - or even moderate - audience).

iii. Similarly, I'll see measurements and collection of session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, methods used to browse away from the page, and connection information (but not your IP address).
iv. This kind of information can help me understand things like whether my site is functioning well, or if something is slowing it down.
v. Again, unless you're the one visitor on a particular day and email me or post something publicly and link back to my site, I probably will never know that you visited my site. Or that you waited 2 seconds for this privacy policy to load-- if that happed, ugh, sorry 8^(

(c) Why does your site collect information?

i. Operations and maintenance functions, such as providing access to my website, operating it, making sure it's running well, and taking action against indecorous elements (e.g., spammers, hackers, bots).
ii. Creation of aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred non-personal Information, which may used to provide and improve the site;
iii. Compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

(d) How does your site store, use, share and disclose site visitors' personal information?

i. Wix.com's platform hosts this site. I've adjusted the settings and designed the site so that I should not be collecting your personal information when you visit the site.
ii. Data from use of my site may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

(e) How do you communicate with site visitors?

I have no way to contact site visitors unless they contact me first, or unless I already have their contact information from some other interaction, such as friendship or networking.

(f) How does your site use cookies and other tracking tools?

i. When you first visit traceyovoice.com, you can "Decline All" cookies by clicking or tapping that button on the footer notification; you may also agree to accept them via the other button or link to "Settings."
ii. According to Wix.com, you can click here to view which cookies are stored on site visitors' computers.

(g) How can I ask questions or make requests concerning this policy?
Given how the site is set up, I should not be able to identify any particular individual's data collected by the site. Even so, if you don't want the site to process your data, if any; or would like to access, correct, amend or delete personal information, if any, that the site has collected about you; or if you have questions about this policy, you may email tracey@traceyo.com.

(h) How will I know if the privacy policy changes?

This privacy policy may be modified at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If there are material changes to this policy, notification of such updates will be here.
